I grew up in California, so I’ve been a fan of Huell Howser’s for as long as I can remember. When I first saw my buddy James Adomian’s impression of Huell, I lost my mind. Then when he asked me if I wanted to make some Huell videos for FunnyOrDie, I lost my mind a second time. There is not much more fun than recreating local weird television. Cheesy/dull b-roll, oddly-timed music fade outs, handheld where you can feel the camera operator’s footsteps, all that good stuff!
We shot them earlier this year and were preparing to finish them up when we heard the news that the real Huell Howser is retiring. So we had to put this first one out. There are 3 more installments coming soon.
James is seriously one of the most gifted writer/performers I’ve gotten the chance to work with, and this is another example. I can’t tell you how hard it was to not laugh the entire time we were shooting. So fun.
